Flying Kites Bear Mtn

I'm a little behind, but it's fundraising time again! Any bit helps, but if you donate $65 or more I'll mail you a 9X12 print of my illustration made for Flying Kites. Here's the link: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/colleensanders/flyingkites

I'm trying to raise $500 for their Sustainable Farming and Feeding-which is set on providing over 170 nutritious meals a day.

I'm running the 10K at Bear Mtn. Also let me know if you'd like to run or join in the fundraising campaign. Thanks y'all

Changes

Lots of moving and shaking going on in my life. I'm taking a little hiatus from the illustration world. See you on the other side.

Valence Times

Happy Valence Times Day Everyone

I hope you're all gettin' freaky under some nice window treatments.

NO but seriously. Happy Valentine's Day, like it says:

Too big for scanner, had to take with iPhone.
I think I should've stuck with this version:

Chrimmy Comic

I made this for my friend Dan Hood, who was my secret santa. Month and a half late whatever.

I had so much fun making this, I haven't really done much since. I should make a Valentine's Day illo probably.

Happy Christmas Harry

Happy Christmas Harry

No, not Harry Potter, you nerds. It's an allusion to the image of the Madonna and Child and an ode to the reality of Christmas.

Hello again

Yesterday was pretty amazing. Woke up early, went to the farmer's market then headed out later the the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival. It was incredible. I bought a book from Jillian Tamaki at the Conundrum Press table.

I also bought a book from the Unicorn Mountain artists collective. It's a collaborative book illustrating folk tales from western Pennsylvania.

A bunch of my friends came and we hung out all day and the boys cooked us a delicious chicken soup. We also had hot spiked cider and garlic breads. A fun yummy meal! So today after much leisure and inspiration I sat down to make a version of a sketch I did in CA. My future husband, Tab Lloyd:

Some sketches

In lieu of any new work, and in an effort to have frequent posts I thought I'd share some sketches. Most of these are from SOI Sketch Night. It was fantastic and I'll have to go back in December. The other full page one is from watching videos/ movies on my computer. Which happens more often than I'd like to admit.

I'm basically working on trying to include multiple figures, more interesting line work and creating interesting/filled negative spaces.
